The City of Elliot Lake's Recreation and Leisure Services is committed to safety.  Please familiarize yourself with the pool rules and let us know if you require clarification, or if you have a medical condition that requires some assistance. We are pleased to help.


Children 7 years of age and younger must be directly supervised (within arms reach at all times) by a person 16 years or oldert in the water.

  • Children 8 and 9 years of age that pass the swim test may swim in the deep end without an adult.
  • Children 8 and 9 years of age that do not pass the swim test must stay in the shallow end of the pool.

Maximum three (3) children per adult, adults must be 16 years of age or older and actively supervising children in the water.

Swim Test

In order to swim in the deep end, the swimmer must be able to swim two continuous widths of the pool on their front, without stopping, touching the bottom, in a confident manner. Aquatic staff reserves the right to ask any patron to complete the swim test.

Bathing Caps

Bathing caps must be worn if hair is longer than 7cm.   

What to Wear/No Outdoor Footwear

Proper bathing suit attire is required to enter the pool; no street clothes, shoes or undergarments. To protect everyone's feet and maintain a clean facility, outdoor footwear cannot be worn on the pool deck.  Please remove footwear in the change rooms and on pool deck.  Flip-flops or water shoes are strongly recommended in the change rooms and on the pool deck.


You must be accompanied by someone 18 or older to use the saunas.

Water Diapers

Children who are not toilet trained must wear tight legged plastic pants or water diapers. No disposable diapers are permitted.

Change Room Age Requirments

Children 8 years of age and older are required to use the change room of their gender.  If this is not suitable please contact a facility staff to make accommodations.

Personal Belongings and Lockers

Please take precautions with your belongings. The City of Elliot Lake is not responsible for lost or stolen items.  The lockers in the change rooms are available for daily use and require tokens valued at .25 cents (one token) to oeprate.  Day lockers must not be occupied outside of daily facility operational hours - locks and contents will be removed if left overnight unless you have rented the locker for a 3 month, 6 month or 1 year term.  Extended use lockers are available for rent, please stop by the front desk.

Help Prevent Pool Foulings

Pool closures are occasionally required as a result of foulings (bodily waste or other contamination).  A pool fouling results in programming delays and a pool shutdown of 2-13 hours.

  • Don't feed children two hours prior to swimming.
  • Take children to the washroom prior to swimming.
  • Ensure that all children who are not toilet trained use swim diapers.
  • Consider how your child is feeling and do not allow him or her to enter the pool if ill.

Food & Drink

Health regulations do not allow food or beverages (other than water), or glass on the pool deck.

Cell Phone & Photo Policy

Cell phones, cameras or other mobile devices are not permitted in the change rooms or washrooms. People wishing to take photos may contact the front desk for permission.
