Boat Launches

The City of Elliot Lake has three Boat Launches and two Ramps.

LAUNCHESWestview Boat Launch

Elliot Lake Boat Launch is adjacent to Westview Park approximately 1km from the downtown core.  The public boat launch provides free mooring and access to Lake Trout, Small Mouth Bass, Whitefish and Splake.  It is set up with two launches, one for larger boats (up to 22 feet) and the other for smaller ones.  The City has laid out a cement pad to allow an easy launch.  There is a full length dock along side the launch area designed for people to bring a chair for relaxation while dropping a line if they prefer to fish off the dock.  Washroom facilities are available on site.  The parking lot is large enough to accommodate several boaters and is also designed to allow boat and trailers in one section while cars only in another area.  People can enjoy the view of the lake in the evening while looking at the different birds or having quiet conversation.

If you need to stretch a bit, a short walk will take you to the Westview Trail where you can decide to walk the full length of the trail or simply access a shorter distance.  For the canoe enthusiast the Elliot Lake Boat Launch is the entrance to the Elliot Lake to Depot Lake Canoe Route which is well indicated on the sign next to the boat launch.

Dunlop Lake Boat Launch is situated approximately 10km North of the City.  The launch has one cement launch pad for easy launching.  Handrails are set up as a safety measure when climbing in and out of the boat.  The parking lot is capable of accommodating several vehicles with trailers.  Near the boat launch is a small island that one can drive to, if choosing to picnic or simply to take in the view of the lake.  The lake itself is 10 miles long and is loaded with Small Mouth Bass, Pickerel and Lake Trout.  Access to the ATV Trails is nearby.  Washroom facilities are available.  Dunlop Lake Boat Launch is also part of the Dunlop/Mace Canoe Route.  Signage for this Canoe Route is available at the boat launch.

Depot Lake Boat Launch is situated approximately 7km South of the City of Elliot Lake along Hwy 108 near the airport.  The launch is one cement launch pad.  There is a floating dock available making it easier to get into your boat. This boat launch is very popular in the spring when the Rainbow Trout travel near it to make its way to other lakes.  You will be able to catch Small Mouth Bass, Pickerel, Yellow Perch and Whitefish.  The parking lot offers parking; however, there is less space compared to the Dunlop Lake Boat Launch Landing.  The Landing offers beautiful picnic spots and is a popular area during the summer.  Washrooms facilities are available.  Depot Lake Boat Launch is also part of the Elliot Lake/Depot Lake Canoe Route.  Signage for this Canoe Route is available at the boat launch.
